Ingredients
Dates ---- 1 cup
Raisins ---- 1/4 cup
Tamarind pulp ---- 2 tablespoons
Brown sugar ---- 1/4 cup
Ginger sliced ---- 1/4 inch
salt to taste
Roasted cumin seed powder ---- 1 teaspoon
Black pepper ---- 1/4 teaspoon
Red chilly powder ---- 1/4 teaspoon
cardamon ---- 2
Approx water ---- 3/4 cup
preparation method
Soak the raisins for about 1/2 an hour.
Then slice the dates in 8 pieces.
Remove the sheel from cardamom and crush the seeds.
In a pan combine the water with tamarind , sugar , salt, black pepper, red chilly powder , cumin powder and cardamom and bring to boil and let it simmer on low heat for 2 minutes.
Now add dates , raisins & ginger to boil and turn off the heat.
Let it be for about an hour before serving.
chutney is served at room temperature and can be refrigerated for a month.
serve this along with any chat items.
