For vazhaipoo urundai
1. vazhaipoo ---- 1 cup
2. Tuvardal ---- 1/4 cup
3. channadhal ---- 1/4 cup
4. onion small ---- 10 nos
5. dry red chilli ---- 2 nos
6. Aniseeds ---- 1 teaspoon
7. salt to taste
8. garam masala powder ---- 1/2 teaspoon
method
1. wash tuvar & channa dal and soak for 1 to 2 hours.
2. Then drain completly and grind it to a little coarse paste along with dry red chillies , aniseeds , salt & garam masala powder & chopped vazhaipoo.
3. mix everything well and make around 20 lemon size balls and arrange it in a greased idly plate and steam it for 10 to 15 minutes.
for kulambu
1. small onion ---- 15 nos
2. garlic ---- 6 cloves
3. Tomato ---- 1 large ( diced )
4. salt to taste
5. Turmeric powder ---- 1/4 teaspoon
6. coconuts & badam ---- each 3 nos
7. mustard ---- 1/4 teaspoon
8. jeera ---- 1/4 teaspoon
9. oil ---- 2 teaspoons
10. red chilli powder ---- 1 teaspoon
11. coriander powder ---- 1 teaspoon
preparation method
1. fry onions using little oil , then cool it and grind it.
2. grind coconut along with badam & cashewnuts to a smooth paste,
3. Now heat a pan and add oil to it and than add mustard & jeera and curry leaves.
4. Then add chopped onions & garlic, then add the chopped tomatoes and fry for 2 minutes.
5. Then add the grinded onion paste , salt to taste , turmeric powder , coriander powder , red chilli powder and add 2 cups of water to it and allow it to boil for 10 to 15 minutes.
6. Then add the grinded coconut paste and add the boiled kollas and cook this in very low flame for 15 minutes.
finally garnish with coriander leaves and serve it.
serve this for steamed Rice , pulav , chappatis or Rottis.
