uppu urundai is a healthy snack , my mom used to prepare and give it for us, when we return from school. since this is steamed it can be considered as a guilt free snack , we can have it with any chutney , but i prefer to have it simply.
Ingridients
1. Rice flour ---- 1 cup
2. water ---- 2 cups
3. salt to taste
for seasoning
1. mustard ---- 1 teaspoon
2. Asofotida ---- 1/2 teaspoon
3. Red chillies ---- 2 nos
4. channa dhal ---- 1 tablespoons
5. coconut ---- 2 tablespoons
6. curry leaves ---- few
7. coriander leaves ---- few
preparation method
1. Heat the kadai and add mustard , let it to splutter them add remaing ingredients and stir untill it becomes golden colour.
2. Add this seasoning to the dough & mix it throughly.
3. Take small lemon size portion from the dough & make it into round dumplings.
4. Do the same with rest of the dough.
5. steam all the dumplings in idly cooker or in a steamer for 10 to 15 minutes in medium heat.
6. now heat a kadai with a spoon of oil and garnish the boiled urunadi with mustard , urad dhal , curry leaves , coconut and coriander leaves.
serve this with any chutney
