Ingredients :
1. Kovakai / Ivy Gourd / Coccinia grandis ---- 250 grams
2. Tamarind ---- small pebble size ball
3. Jeera powder ---- 1/2 teaspoon
4. Red chilli powder ---- 3/4 teaspoon
5. Turmeric powder ---- 1/4 teaspoon
6. salt to taste
7. oil ---- 1 teaspoon
Preparation Method
1. Cut kovakai as fine ring shape.
2. Soak tamarind in water and extract the pulp.
3. Now heat a pan with oil , when smoke comes out from the oil then add jeera powder & kovakai and saute for 2 minutes.
4. Then add turmeric powder , red chilli powder , salt to taste and tamarind water and put it in very low- flame.
5. Wait till the kovakai cooks well , still it cooks put it in very low- flame.
6. When it is cooked then put- off the flame .
Serve this kovakai varuval with sambar rice or curd rice.
