Ingredients:
1. Beet Root ---- 1 no ( medium size )
2. dry red chilli ---- 1 no
3. garlic ---- 4 pods
4. salt to taste
5. tamarind ---- a pinch
6. urad dhal ---- 1 tablespoon
7. Broken channa dhal ---- 1 tablespoon
8. oil ---- 1/4 teaspoon
Preparation Method
1. Wash , peel the skin and grate the beet root.
2. Heat a pan with oil , then add red chilli , garlic , urad dhal , broken channa dhal , grated beet root and fry all these ingredients each separately . ( while frying beet root, fry till the raw flavour disappears )
3. Then cool the fried ingredients
4. After cooling add salt to taste and tamarind to it and grind it in your mixer jar with out adding any water to it . Then transfer the chutney to a serving bowl.
Serve this beet root Thoovayal with plain white rice or with any rice. It even goes good for chapattis and dosa.
