The kodo millet dumplings varagarisi kozhukottai recipe is very easy to make with very minimal and normal ingredients that is available at homes. it comes with its unique flavour that is too good compared to normal rice dumplings.
Ingredients
1. kodo millet / varagarisi ---- 1 cup
2. Toor dhal ---- 3 tablespoons
3. pepper ---- 1/2 teaspoon
4. jeera ---- 1 teaspoon
5. oil ---- 2 teaspoons
6. channadhal ---- 1 tablespoon
7. uraddhal ---- 1 tablespoon
8. mustard ---- 1/2 teaspoon
9. big onion ---- 1 no ( chop finely )
10.Red chillies ---- 2 no
11. coriander leaves chopped ---- 3 tablespoons
12. grated coconut ---- 4 tablespoons
13. salt to taste
preparation method
1. first grind the varakarisi , toordhal , pepper and jeera in a mixer grinder to a coarse powder.
2. Heat a kadai with oil. At the same time boil 3 glasses of water in a kettle.
3. now add channadhal , urad dhal , mustard to the kadai and wait till they turn brown.
4. Then add chopped onions , redchillies and saute for a while.
5. Then add the grinded varagarisi , salt to taste , grated coconut and saute for a while.
6. Then add coriander leaves .
7. Now pour the boiling water and saute till it turns thick in consistency.
8. Add curry leaves and switchoff the flame and mix it.
9. Allow it to cool for a minute . when it is touchable by hand make small dumplings and steam cook it for about 5 to 10 minutes.
Easy and tasty millet dumplings are now ready to be serve it hot !
Enjoy this with coriander chutney or coconut chutney of your choice.
