Ingredients ;
1. Idly Rice ---- 1 1/2 cup
2. Raw Rice ---- 1/2 cup
3. urad dhal ---- 1 cup
4. pepper ---- 1 teaspoon
5. cumin seeds ---- 1/2 teaspoon
6. grated ginger ---- 1/2 teaspoon
7. sesame oil ---- 1 1/2 teaspoon
8. ghee ---- 1 tablespoon
9. salt
preparation method
1. wash and soak raw rice , idli rice and urad dhal althogether in water for 6 hours.
2. Then grind it as normal idly batter consistency.
3. Add salt to the batter and keep it aside for 8 hours. ( or till it gets fermented )
4. crush the pepper coarsely and add the whole cumin seeds to the batter, then add grated ginger , 1 tablespoon of ghee .
5. mix altogether nicely.
6. Grease a bowl with sesame oil and pour the batter.
7. steam it for 20 minutes or check inserting a tooth pick. if it comes out clean then it is done.
8. Allow it to cool for 5 minutes and invert it in a plate cut into pieces and serve with karam chutney.
note;
Do not skip the mentioned oil and ghee. Addition of this will make the idlies very soft and moist.
