Ingredients
1. Fish any variety ---- 1/2 kg
2. small onions ---- 20 nos
3. garlic ---- 6 nos
4. Tamarind ---- small pebble size ball
5. Turmeric powder ---- 1/4 teaspoon
6. coriander powder ---- 1 teaspoon
7. Red chilli powder ---- 1 1/2 teaspoon
8. salt to taste
9. coconut milk ---- 1 cup
10. oil ---- 1 teaspoon
11. mustard , jeera, fenugreek seed ---- each 1/4 teaspoon
12. curry leaves ---- few
Preparation Method
1. Heat a broad vessel and add oil to it and then add mustard , jeera , fenugreek , onions , garlic and curry leaves.
2. Then add tamarind water , turmeric powder , coriander powder , red chilli powder, salt to taste and add 2 cups of water and allow this to boil till the raw flavour disappears.
3. Then add coconut milk and allow to boil till it becomes thick.
4. When the kulumbu is thick then add the fish pieces and cook in very low flame for 3 to4 minutes. Then put-off the flame.
Serve this fish kulumbu for plain white Rice , Iddly , Iddiappam, Appam or dosa.
