Sambar vada is a very popular south Indian break fast. You can have it in the morning or in the evening . The crispy vadas are soaked in sambar to make it soft and juicy. It will absorb all the flavour of sambar.
Ingredients :
1. urad dhal ---- 2 cups
2. green chillies ---- 6 nos
3. salt to taste
4. oil for deep frying
Preparation Method
1. Soak urad dhal for 1 to 2 hours in water.
2. Then wash it and grind the soaked dhal with little salt & green chillies and little water to make smooth batter.
3. Now take a broad vessel and add sambar ( the sambar should be watery .)
4. Heat oil in a pan and leave the batter in form of vadas in the oil . Then deep fry the vadas.
5. Put the hot vadas as many you can soak in the bowl.
6. Close the lid for few minutes and keep it aside.
7. Soak until your vadas are soft and juicy.
8. Serve it hot and eat it hot. You can put a tablespoon of ghee on top of the soaked vadas.
Note
* Vadas should be soaked in sambar when both are hot , then it will become soft sooner.
* When the vadas are soaked in sambar , the sambar can get reduced as the vadas will absorb the liquid. So always add enough quantity of sambar to the vadas.
