Ingredients:
1. Raw rice rava ( pacha arrisi rava ) ----- 1 cup
2. Thoovar dhal ---- 1/4 cup ( dry roasted and broken as rava)
3. grated coconut ---- 1 to 2 tablespoon
4. salt to taste
5. jeera ---- 1/2 teaspoon
6. pepper ( crushed ) ---- 1/4 teaspoon
7. dry red chillies ---- 2 nos
8. Asofotida ---- 1/4 teaspoon
9. mustard ---- few
10. urad dhal ---- 1/2 teaspoon
11. curry leaves ---- few
12. oil ----1/2 teaspoon
Preparation Method
1. Heat a pan with 1/2 teaspoon of oil , then add mustard , urad dhal , red chillies , asofotida , curry leaves and wait till it splitters.
2. Then add jeera & pepper and thoovar dhal and fry this for 1 minute.
3. Then add 2 cups of water and close the pan with a lid and allow the water to boil.
4. When it starts boiling then slow down the flame and add raw rice rava , salt to taste and grated coconut and mix them well and again close it with a lid till the rava cooks.
5. Approximately it may takes 5 to 6 minutes.
6. Then put-off the flame and cool it.
7. After cooling down then make them as big lemon size balls.
8. Then heat a Iddly steammer with water and arrange this cooked rava balls in the Iddly plates and close the lid of the steammer and again boil them for 5 to 6 minutes.
9. Then transfer this to a bowl.
* Now serve this neer kollukattai with coconut chutney or red milagai chutney or with poondu puli kulumbu.
* I like to have this neer kollukattai with milagai chutney and puli kulumbu.
