Ingredients :
1. Raw Rice Rava ----- 1 cup
2. Thoovar dhal ---- 1/4 cup ( dry roast and broken as rava )
3. Jeera ---- 1 teaspoon ( crushed )
4. Pepper ---- 1/2 teaspoon ( crushed )
5. Curry leaves ---- few
6. Salt to taste
7. Asofotida ---- 1/4 teaspoon
8. Mustard ---- few
9. Chopped coriander leaves ---- few
10. grated coconut ---- 1 tablespoon
11. oil ---- 4 tablespoons
Preparation Method
1. Heat a pan with 1/2 teaspoon of oil to it.
2. Then add mustard , when it spilters then add asofotida , chopped curry leaves then add crushed jeera and pepper.
3. Then add 2 cups of water to it and allow it to boil.
4. When the water boils , then add broken thoovar dhal and raw rice rava , grated coconut and salt to taste and close the pan with a lid and cook it in very low flame till the rava cooks well.
5. Then put off the flame and garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and allow this to cool.
6. After cooling down take desired sized ball and make adais. I made small adais and shaped it with a lid.
8. Then heat a dosa pan and drizzle little oil and toast the upma adai in medium flame till it is crispy.
Serve this for evening snaks or as night dinner . You can serve this upma adai with coconut chutney , coriander chutney or with pudina chutney .
note:
If you don't have raw rice rava , then you can take raw rice and soak it for 1 to 2 hours and grind it as rava and use for this recipe.
It tastes good even if it cools down.
