Kollu / Horse gram not only helps to reduce weight but also helps to prevent bad cholestrol in our body.
Horse gram has amazing medicinal qualities. It is recommended for general weakness , dissolving kidney stones and reducing blood pressure and cholesterol.
The consumption of the horse gram is also said to control obesity . Besides this it is know to cure menstrual problems in women , as it purifies the blood.
Ingredients :
1. Kollu / horse gram ---- 1 cup
2. Red chillies ---- 2 nos
3. Jeera ---- 1 teaspoon
4. curry leaves ---- few
5. salt to taste
6. Asofotida ---- 1/4 teaspoon
7. garlic ---- 4 pods
Preparation Method
1. Boil kollu adding 3 cups of water in a pressure cooker for 3 to 5 whistles.
2. Wait till the pressure cooker cools , then open the lid and drain the excess water from it . ( you can use the excess water for rasam )
3. Heat a pan with one drop of oil to it and roast red chillies , jeera , curry leaves , garlic & asofotida.
4. Using the mixer jar grind the roasted items adding little salt to it . Then add the boiled kollu and sprinkle little water to it and grind it .
5. Then transfer it to a bowl.
Serve this for hot Rice . Kollu paruppu adding little ghee to hot rice tastes very yummy . I even use this kollu paruppu to chappaties also.
