Ingredients :
1. Karipala / Tender jack fruit about 1 month old ---- 1 small size
2. Green chillies ---- 10 nos ( chopped )
3. Big onion ---- 6 nos ( chopped )
4. grated coconut ---- 6 tablespoons
5. salt to taste
6. Turmeric powder ---- 1/4 teaspoon
7. mustard ---- 1/2 teaspoon
8. urad dhal ---- 1 teaspoon
9. broken channa dhal ---- 2 tablespoons
10. curry leaves ---- few
11. oil ---- 1 teaspoon
Preparation Method
1. First remove the skin of the tender jackfruit and cut into small pieces .
2. By using a pressure cooker , cook it along with turmeric powder and salt to taste and cook for 1 whisle.
3. Then cool the cooker and open the lid and drain the excess water from it.
4. By using the mixer jar , mince the cooked jack fruit pieces. ( make sure there is no water. so that the tender jackfruit is not over cooked as the whole thing may get mashed. )
5. Now mix together the grated coconut and the minced tender jackfruit.
6. Now heat a kadai with oil in it and add mustard , urad dhal , channa dhal and wait till it splutter
7. Then add curry leaves , chopped onion & green chillies and fry till golden brown.
8. Then add the mixed coconut and minced jackfruit to it and fry for 5 minutes. Then put off the flame.
Serve this karipala podimas for sambar satham and Rasam satham as a side dish. Jack f ruit is a very fibrous and very good for digestion . It is rich in potassium and it helps in the lowering of blood pressure.
