Chitirai varshapirappu is Tamil New Year . This festival generally falls in the month of April . Bitter - sweet preparation of neem flowers and raw mangoes are a must in the menu. Ingredients:
1. Raw mango ---- 1 nos
2. green chillies ---- 3 nos
3. Jaggery ---- 1 tablespoon
4. oil ---- 1/4 teaspoon
5. mustard & urad dhal ---- 1/2 teaspoon
6. turmeric powder ---- 1/4 teaspoon
7. salt to taste
8. curry leaves few
9. vepam poo ---- 3 tablespoons ( roasted in ghee )
preparation method
1. Chop the mango into big size cubes.
2. Then heat a pan add mango cubes , salt to taste , green chillies , turmeric powder and little water to it and boil.
3. When it is cooked then put off the flame and mash it finely using a blender.
4. Then heat a pan add oil , then mustard & urad dhal , curry leaves then mashed mango , jaggery and fried vepam poo and allow to boil till it is thick in consistency.
