The bottle gourd is low in fat and cholesterol , yet high in dietary fibre. It contains 96 % water and 100 grams of bottle gourd contains 12 kcal. It is also rich in iron and it has vitamins B complex and C . Ingredients :
1. Finely chopped bottle gourd ---- 2 cups
2. grated coconut ---- 1 teaspoon
3. green chillies ---- 3 nos
4. moong dhal ---- 4 tablespoons
5. salt to taste
6. oil ---- 1/2 teaspoon
7. curry leaves ---- few
8. mustard & urad dhal ---- few
9. jeera ---- few
10. small onions ----- 5 nos ( chopped )
Preparation Method
1. Pressure cook the moong dhal adding little turmeric to it for 2 whistle .
2. Then open the lid of the pressure cooker and add chopped bottle gourd , salt to taste , & grated coconut.
3. Then season it using 1/2 teaspoon of oil , mustard & urad dhal , jeera , chopped green chillies & onions & curry leaves.
4. Then again close the lid of the pressure cooker and pressure cook for 1 whistle . Now the bottle gourd kuttu is ready .
Serve this for rice. For your kids you can mix this kuttu with rice adding little ghee to it , it will taste too delicious , and all kids will like this kuttu rice diffently.
