Ingredients :
1. Fresh groundnuts
or
soaked over night groundnuts ---- 2 cups
2. Small onions ---- 10 nos ( chopped )
3. Tamarind ---- a small pebble size ball
4. Salt to taste
5. Red chilli powder ---- 1 teaspoon
6. coriander powder ---- 1 teaspoon
7. Turmeric powder ---- 1/4 teaspoon
8. grated coconut ---- 3 to 4 tablespoons
9. garlic ---- 4 flaxes
10. cinnamon/ clove / cardamon ---- each 1 piece
11. curry leaves few
12. oil ---- 1/2 teaspoon
Preparation Method
1. Soak tamarind in water and extract the pulp & keep it aside.
2. Grind grated coconut and 1 to 2 tablespoon of groundnuts and grind this to a smooth paste and keep it aside.
3. Now heat a pressure cooker and add washed groundnuts, turmeric powder , coriander powder , red chilli powder and then add 2 cups of water and pressure cook it for 2 to 3 whistle.
4. Then cool it and open the lid of the pressure cooker and add salt to taste and tamarind water and allow this to boil for 2 minutes.
5. Then add grinded coconut paste to it and allow to boil.
6. Heat a separate kadai & season it with , cinnamon , clove , cardamon , curry leaves , chopped onions & garlic and saute till the onions are golden brown in color , and then put-off the flame and add this to the boiling kulumbu.
7. when the kulambu is thick enough in consistency then put-off the flame and transfer it to a bowl.
serve this kulumbu for steamed Rice or with ghee rice , jeera pulav or even with Iddly , dosa, chapatties , Iddiyappam, Appam & Roti's it tastes good for all.
Note
* For still better taste while adding tamarind water to the kulumbu you can also add 2 chopped brinjals or 2 chopped potatoes to it. The vegetable gives some extra Aroma and taste to it.
