Ingredients :
1. pre boiled Rice ---- 4 cups
2. urad dhal ---- 1/2 cup
3. sesame seeds ---- 25 grams
4. Asofotida ---- 1 teaspoon
5. jeera ---- 1 teaspoon
6. Ajwain powder ---- 1/4 teaspoon
7. salt to taste
8. Butter ----100 grams
9. oil for frying
Preparation Method
1. Wash and clean the rice. Let it out to dry and once it is dried , then powder it in
the mixer jar.
2. Heat a pan and fry the urad dhal to very light brown colour. Then cool it and
powder it in the mixer jar.
3. Take a bowl mix the rice powder , urad dhal powder , sesame , asofotida , jeera ,
ajwain powder , butter and salt to taste and add very little water to it and
make it to get a dough like consistency.
4. Now take a small amount of dough and put it in the murukku maker and close
the maker.
5. Take a plastic sheet or aluminum foil with some oil brushed on it .
6. Now start pressing the mould and slowly rotate the maker into a circle shape
till you form a medium sized spirals.
7. Heat the oil in a kadai. Test how hot it is by dropping a pinch of dough into it.
If it sinks , the oil hasn't become hot enough . If the dough springs to the top
with bubbles all around it , then the oil is just ready.
8. Drop in the murukku into the hot oil and fry them crispy.
9. Now store the murukkus in air tight container.
