Ingredients:
1. chicken pieces ---- 1/2 kg
2. basumathi Rice ---- 2 cups
3. red chilli powder ---- 1 1/2 teaspoons
4. salt to taste
5. ginger paste & garlic paste ---- 1 1/2 teaspoons
6. oil ---- 3 tablespoons
7. cumin seeds ---- 1 teaspoon
8. cloves ---- 1
9. green cardamon ---- 1
10. bay leaves ---- 2
11. cinnamon ---- 1/2 inch piece
12. big onions ---- 2 nos ( sliced )
13. tomatoes ---- 2 nos ( chop )
14. curd ---- 1/2 cup
preparation method
1. Take chicken pieces in a bowl and add 1/2 teaspoon of chilli powder , 1/2 teaspoon. of salt , 1/2 teaspoon of ginger& garlic paste and marinate the pieces and refrigerate for 1/2 an hour.
2. now heat a heavy bottomed pan and add oil , cumin seeds , cloves, green cardamon , bay leaves and cinnamon and saute for few minutes.
3. Then add the sliced onions and saute till lightly browned.
4. Then add the remaining ginger & garlic paste and red chilli powder and saute for 2 minutes.
5. Then add the tomatoes , salt to taste, curd and saute for 2 minutes.
6. Now add the marinated chicken pieces and saute for 5 to 7 minutes.
7. Then add the washed basumati rice and coriander leaves and saute for 2 more minutes and add 3 cups of water and bring it to boil and then reduce the flame to low and cook till both the chicken and rice are done.
serve hot with Raitha or chicken kuruma.
